Cushion Buying Guide

 Types of Cushion Filling

1 :- Feathers Cushion Pads :

Feathers are a soft, comfortable and natural material for stuffing. A combination of down and contour feathers are usually used. The former are the fluffy sort used for insulation; the latter are longer and tougher.

The greater the proportion of down feathers, the softer the cushion will be. This means more comfort, but it’ll need to be maintained regularly – primarily by plumping.

2 :- Synthetic Fibres Cushion Pads :

Synthetic fibres are an alternative to feathers. They offer a different feel, and are suitable for those looking to avoid animal products, and those with allergies. We use virgin hollow fibre filling as an alternative to duck feather, this has a bounce back, plump & full filling.

We’ve quizzed our Customer Care team who have answered our most frequently asked questions when it comes to buying cushion pads.

How to Choose the Right Size Cushion Pads?

When it comes to what size cushion insert to buy, we always recommend to go up in size. Don’t worry, you should still be able to fit your insert inside the cover. But going up in size will provide you with a super full and plump looking cushion rather than one that looks a bit flat. For example, if you have an 18″ square cushion cover, we would recommend that you go for a 20″ square cushion inner for a full look.

If you have a smaller sofa, it might be best to pick smaller cushions. However, if you have a large sofa, or a sofa with a deep seat, you can layer with larger sized cushions for a comfortable and cosy look.

How do you measure for a Cushion Insert?

To measure for a cushion insert you need to know what size your cushion cover is. Most cushion covers are square or rectangular in shape, and if this is the case, simply measure the sides of the cover. If, however, you have a circular shaped cushion cover, simply measure the diameter.

What is the standard size of a Cushion?

There are a few standard sizes that most retailers will adhere to in the UK. These include a small square size 45 x 45 cm and a larger square size 60 x 60 cm. These are the sizes you would mostly use for your sofa or bed. However, it is important to note the size of the cushion cover before you buy it online to ensure that you can find a suitable cushion insert to go inside it. Don’t forget that there is a huge variety of sizes and shapes available including heart shaped cushions!

How to buy cushion pads?

Once you’ve found some new cushion covers online (or if you want to refresh cushions you already have) make a note of what sizes they are and how many inserts you’ll need. You can then head online and make a selection on which type of cushion insert you want. Go for Luxury Feather and Down, these cushions will feel a little heavier and softer. Alternatively, if you suffer from allergies or are looking for a more affordable option, go for Synthetic Fibre Cushion Inserts
